Commercial Roofing
Commercial roofing has a job to do and it has to do it on a budget. We can budget for you either short term of long term to see what kind of roof will deliver on your need and as professional roofing contractors we will ensure that we work with your other construction professionals to ensure the roofing is done on time and in the window of available access.
Built Up Roofing (BUR) BUR has been a winner for at least a century now and with good reason. The way they are built with alternating layers of bitumen and roofing felt, reinforced with either fiberglass or ply sheets mean that even if one layer is damaged or starts to degrade it is backed up by the layer underneath so there is still no water ingress. It can also be strongly fire resistant. That makes it a winner particularly for large scale flat commercial roofing. The real skill comes in designing and installing the right number and type of layers for the local weather and likely wear and tear of the building. We will be happy to talk to you about the options available. Flat Roofing Flat roofs have so many uses now not least because that space can be used for a wide variety of things that a sloping roof can not. So called flat roofing is often not completely flat but largely a low rising pitch and that can be combined with totally flat areas to create a surface suitable for large spaces that sheds water well but is still an easily accessed space and a great storage area as well as a a platform for systems like solar panels and air conditioning units. In addition we are seeing a growing demand from customers for vegetative systems. These are literally green roofs with growing plants on them. They are popular in retail environments and have the benefit that when combined with a properly installed base layer (we take care of that) they offer excellent water and storm management properties. Metal Roofing Metal roofing costs more than many other systems as an initial outlay but recoups that over the long term because a metal roof is so durable that it can be expected to last as long as the building itself. Corrugated galvanized steel is the most popular metal covering for commercial roofing but you should know that it has come a long way and there are now styles available that completely conceal the seams to give a sleek and very modernist look. Nor does metal roofing always mean a sheet approach. There are metal shingles, including those indistinguishable from slate when seen from ground level which offer the toughness and long lasting benefits of metal with a classic look. Liquid Roofing No we're not talking about a rooftop pool here. Liquid roofing means that the roofing material is sprayed onto an existing substrate. The substrate has to be properly prepared but as a technique it can mean boosting an existing roof with a variety of sprayable liquids including modified polymer asphalt or urethane elastomer. Highly elastic and self flashing this system can be the answer for awkward shapes and patches of a roof. |
